Westwood Organized Meaningful Projects

WOMP, or Westwood Organized Meaningful Projects, is an essential community program in the Westwood Village.

This inspiring day of community improvement projects in Westwood Village and the North Village is a proud Westwood tradition: a collaboration of hundreds of volunteers tackling a host of community improvement projects to enhance the charm of our city for a memorable and rewarding experience. This project is a collaboration of the UCLA Volunteer Center, Westwood Community Council, Westwood Neighborhood Council, Westwood Village Improvement Association, Bruin students and alumni, city officials, merchants, and neighbors.

WOMP 2014

The fifth annual WOMP event will bring volunteers together to remove weeds and fill in degraded street tree wells with decomposed granite to protect trees and improve public safety; repaint Westwood and North Village lamp posts and traffic poles with a fresh coat of paint; rake out sandboxes and wipe down play equipment at Aiden’s Place in Westwood Park; water potted trees and plants at Westwood Recreation Center; create Hygiene Kits for PATH (People Assisting the Homeless); write letters of appreciation to overseas U.S. service members for Operation Gratitude; present musical and educational programs at Westwood Public Library; present A Cappella musical programs to seniors at Belmont Village Westwood and Vintage Westwood Horizons; restore degraded parkways in the North Village with decomposed granite to improve public safety; install neighborhood beautification signs in the North Village; remove graffiti, stickers, weeds, and trash; and restore the “shine and sparkle” to Westwood Village and the North Village.
