For UCLA’s second annual Westwood Organized Mega Project (WOMP), over 500 volunteers arrived in Westwood Village on Sunday, April 17 in an effort to restore and give back to the community. Students signed in around nine a.m., ate breakfast, and donned their blue and yellow WOMP T-shirts before breaking into groups led by task captains and heading to different streets in the village.
The students and their neighbors, local Westwood merchants, worked on a number of projects to aid the community, such as cleaning sidewalks, planting trees, creating murals, and repainting trash cans and curbs. Created by the Volunteer Center and co-sponsored by the Westwood Community Council, the event aimed to bring UCLA students into their own backyard and unite UCLA and Westwood as a community.
