Join Reading Partners: Giving just one hour a week can impact a student’s future.
Reading Partners is a nonprofit literacy organization that recruits and trains community volunteers to provide one-on-one targeted literacy instruction to students reading below grade level in Title I elementary schools all across Los Angeles. Our highly effective, evidence-based program has helped thousands of children to master the fundamental reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. This school year Reading Partners will serve over 700 students through the help of hundreds of volunteers every week!
A few highlights of our program:
1. No experience is necessary – we provide a structured curriculum, with on-going training and support from an on-site Reading Partners staff member.
2. Tutors work with the same student each week, building a lasting relationship with their student and a real understanding of their academic needs.
3. We are currently located in 13 schools across LA and adding new schools each year. Tutors choose a convenient location that works best for them!
4. Tutors commit to at least one consistent hour per week (1 hour = 1 session). Sessions take place Monday through Thursday, all day.
