Volunteer Champion (Los Angeles and Ventura Counties)

Work with Greater Los Angeles Division American Heart Association staff to keep volunteerism visible in the local market by acting as a point person for recruitment and orientation of volunteers. There may be more than 1 volunteer in each market.

Time Commitment:
•6 months (renewable term) – 2-3 hours/week based on needs of market

•Coordinate initial market set up
oMeet with Community Health Director and other staff to determine the volunteer opportunities in the market
oIdentify gaps in volunteer needs
oWork with staff to assist with volunteer recruitment and intake procedures
•Manage new volunteer intake process
oAdminister volunteer application and interviews to gauge interest and expertise of new volunteers
oConduct trainings to orient new volunteers to organization and potential local and Affiliate-wide volunteer opportunities
oHelp determine “best fit” opportunity for the new volunteer
•Follow up with new and existing volunteers after an event or activity is concluded to gauge and direct further interest
•Help develop centralized volunteer database and periodic communications to the volunteer database
•Conduct volunteer focused feedback surveys
•Provide quarterly updates on volunteerism in the market to the local Board of Directors and/or other volunteer committees
