Under the Bridges and On the Streets” is a 501©3, not for profit hands-on service organization which was founded in 1992 with a two-fold express and simple purpose. One, to provide food to the homeless population in Los Angeles, where they live, especially those who live on the streets, under bridges, and in camps. The second purpose is for the volunteer to experience selfless service to others less fortunate. We provide food and clothing to those in need with an awareness of the heart. We are a direct-service organization of volunteers, who believe in the dignity of the individual and strive to enhance the lives of those we serve as well as those who serve.
There is no training needed. Volunteers come and assemble nutritious bagged lunches. These are taken out into the L.A. community on several different routes. From East L.A. to Venice beach and all points north and south. We serve the homeless and hungry where they live.
Every other Saturday, we start making lunched from 9am, although if you would like to go on a route, it is advised to turn up earlier than this. We set off on routes around 1.30/11, and return at different times depending on the route, usually latest around 1pm
