The Mar Vista Gardens location is a recent addition to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica network, and is in need of volunteer tutors to help our members with elementary level English language and mathematics.
r We are looking for kind, patient, and professional volunteers, who are competent with elementary level reading, writing, and mathematics. Our tutoring program requires a one or two hour commitment per week, for twelve weeks. Through regular, one-on-one, weekly sessions, the tutor can help the tutee learn fundamental concepts of reading and mathematics, while acting a mentor, modeling professional, polite, and compassionate behavior.
r Not everyone is qualified to be a tutor, and even fewer of those who are qualified will take the time to help our members. Currently, we only have enough volunteers to tutor our members who demonstrate the most extreme need. With enough volunteers, we can see to it that every student who needs extra help can learn the skills they need to be an educated and productive citizen of their community.
