The School of History and Dramatic Arts (SoHDA is an LAUSD Pilot school* in Glassell Park with opportunities for short and long term internship positions. SoHDA is an all-public school serving students of the surrounding neighborhood with a college-prep academic program blended with a robust drama and stage tech program. Joining a dedicated group of teachers–the community volunteers and interns play a key role in helping bridge the equity gap.
Tutoring and Classroom Assistant Positions Available in ALL Subjects
The successful candidate(s) will support students in grades 9 to 12 in their coursework. Classroom assistants will work with the teacher to help oversee all aspects of the classroom. Depending on classroom needs, assistants may help with seatwork, give individual help, help with grading. Each classroom assistant will have an opportunity, if desired, to present a lesson plan.
Students needing internship hours are welcome to design their own program in partnership with the teachers.
Subjects: English, ELL, History, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Drama, PE (and teams). AP, SPED, and remedial level for all subjects.
The qualified candidate must possess a deep appreciation for the potential of students and bring with them a creative spirit, sense of humor, and passion for collaboration. Exceptional flexibility, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Ability and interest in teaching desired — but not necessary! This is a great experience even for students not planning to go into teaching.
It is preferred candidates are in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, but all candidates considered.
