Adopt a Block
Adopt a Block is the heartbeat ministry of The Dream Center. Adopt a Block goes out and serves the community in any way possible. Volunteers with Adopt a Block have the chance to help with the hot dog cart, which goes into areas where people are experiencing homelessness and intense poverty. This ministry also does random acts of kindness in the community as well as picking up trash, painting, sweeping the streets, basically anyway that we can help change the atmosphere of the community.
Construction
(email for schedule)
We have a very large facility here at The Dream Center, and are always expanding. Construction is an immense need for us as we are maximizing our space and beginning new ministries.
Food Truck
The main goal of Food Truck is to provide relief to low-income families in at-risk neighborhoods. We go to 32 distribution sites and in a typical month serve more than 40,000 people! Handing out unprepared groceries to the community members opens doors to share the help available through other aspects of The Dream Center and Angelus Temple. We are able to connect them to other resources that they may need such as free GED tutoring, His Hands Extended, free medical programs, etc. The ultimate goal is to help build them up to become independent citizens who are in love with Jesus!
Kitchen
(email for schedule)
Kitchen duty begins early in the morning and gives volunteers the opportunity to help serve breakfast and prepare lunch.
His Hands Extended
His Hands Extended is our free thrift store that is open to the public once a week. It is set up like an upscale store and community members are able to come in to browse for work clothing, baby clothes, school clothing, an outfit for an interview, or just something decent to wear. Serving in His Hands will give you the chance to help distribute the clothing to customers and help them check out their items.
Kid’s Ministry
Our Kid’s Ministry team runs Kid’s Jam. Volunteers will have the chance to help them in hosting a sidewalk Sunday school for the children at the site. You will be doing mini Bible lessons, painting faces, dancing and playing with the kids!
Foster Care Intervention
Foster Care Intervention provides food, clothing, diapers, cleaning supplies, appliances and furniture to ensure that homes with minor children meet the requirements of Los Angeles County’s Department of Children and Family Services. In some cases, the simple addition of a bed or safe crib is all a home needs to welcome back their child. We have the privilege of going into the homes, meeting with the families, and bringing them the items they need as well as connecting them to other services from The Dream Center and the community and ultimately, introducing them to Jesus.
