The Black and Blue Project: Mental Health Awareness Fair

May 8th, 2018

Duration: Single Day
Date: May 8, 2018 • 7PM - 9PM

The purpose of this event is to shed light on the mental health concerns impacting students across campus, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, in which issues in the scope of mental health are often stigmatized. Our goal is to gather volunteers and representatives of student organizations to tend the various booths scattered throughout the fair, which are meant to engage in different activities geared toward promoting healthy mental well-being.

The Black and Blue Project:

There’s nothing wrong with feeling blue

Just remember there’s someone there to support you

For many students, particularly ones from underserved, undervalued communities, navigating through the hardships of university life can often be a lonely and stressful road. The Black and Blue Project serves as space to help solve this and welcome all individuals to engage in activities designed to foster self-admiration, cross-community building, and awareness of mental well-being. This includes:

The Woke & Well Panel: Faculty/staff panelists will discuss their experiences with mental health on campus from 6-7pm

Activities Fair: Listen to music and enjoy refreshments as you move from one activities booth to the next for your chance to win an exclusive prize from 7-9pm

Bag Lady Workshop: Participants will communicate about the baggage in which they carry in their lives, as well as, to ignite feelings that may be felt and not always spoken about from 7-9pm

Location: Sunset Village & The Northwest Auditorium

Date: Tuesday May 8th
