Teach your passion in after school (stipend, TFA experience)

June 4th, 2013

Have you considered teaching as a post-graduation career? If so, you should consider Breakaway Education. With Breakaway, you have the opportunity to design your own curriculum, based around your passion and to teach to K-12 students in after school programs. This intensive experience will prepare you for teaching careers and looks great on an application to Teach For America. In fact, 2 of our Corps members were accepted this year and will be joining TFA this summer!

We have a variety of passion-based programs, currently offered to our students. They include art, dance, music, poetry, bicycles, gardening, martial arts, basketball, chess and more. The connection between all our clubs is that you will help young people channel that passion into community leadership. For example a group of students in our bicycle club recently held a bicycle service day at their school and helped fix over 20 bikes from their classmates.

The current opportunity starts in August.

You will receive $1,000 if you are selected.

The program runs Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from August to June.

You will work with educators and TFA alumni through the process and improve your ability to teach, write lessons and manage a classroom.
