Location: 1601 N. Sepulveda Blvd. #122 Manhattan Beach CA 90266
Duration: Single Day
Date: Sep 3, 2016
We are hosting our first annual event on September 3rd in Manhattan Beach! It is a surf event for Children with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. Our goal is to create lasting friendships so that our participants can get out and enjoy the lovely sport of surfing year round, safely, with a Surf Mentor. It is completely free for all participants, family members, friends, and volunteers.
We will have burgers and hot dogs for everyone, as well as the necessary equipment such as wetsuits, life jackets, boogie boards, and surfboards.
We are shooting for at least 15-20 participants, and each participant will have 4-5 experienced volunteers in the water to help them have a fun and safe experience catching waves!
What makes us a little different than your typical surf event is that our overall goal is to connect the kids and parents with their “Surf Buddy,” an experienced surfing mentor that would be there for them if they wanted to Surf again after the annual event all throughout the year.
Most importantly we want to create a community to facilitate getting these children out experiencing surfing, safely, year round.
Attached is a save the date for any students that would like to volunteer and participate! Any students passionate about giving back to the community are more then welcome to join. If you have experience working with special needs children that would be fantastic! However all are welcome, It’s going to be a really fun day!
Please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions!
