Sojourn 40 Hour Domestic Violence Counselor Training

September 9th, 2014

Duration: Multiple Days
First Day : Sep 9, 2014
Last Day: Nov 20, 2014

Volunteer opportunities at Sojourn include answering our 24-hour hotline, facilitation of support groups and participation in children’s empowerment play groups. In addition to signing up for–and doing intensive training in–one of these core programs, you may also participate with court accompaniment, our horticultural therapy program, donations sorting, fund raising, clerical work, and everyday operations of our shelters.
r We call upon our female volunteers to help us demonstrate and model, in all our programs, what it means to be an empowered woman for our victims, so that they may be able to further empower themselves. We so appreciate the men who volunteer with us in our Children’s Program who demonstrate a compassionate side of masculinity and help us model behavior which does not re-emphasize a negative stereotype of men.
r The process for volunteering requires each individual to complete and send in their volunteer application, attend our Fall or Spring training, and commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteer service in one of our programs. We would be happy to have you attend our next training in the Fall of 2014, which will begin September 9, 2014. The trainings are always held in Santa Monica, every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 9:30pm for approximately 10 weeks.
