Do you remember growing up and the lessons in your life that helped make you who you are today? Do you remember that special person who changed your life because s/he saw something special in you and pushed you to be the best you could be? What about joining a sports team, the connection you had with your teammates or the bond you felt with your coach?
r
r Not all kids get the chance to make these kinds of memories. For kids in low-income communities, it is often too unsafe to play outside and finding positive role models outside of the home is a challenge. This increases children’s risk of not graduating high school, being victims of violence or suffering from childhood obesity.
r
r Nearby after-school programs are working hard to put together sports teams for girls and boys in low-income communities, but they urgently need great coaches: the most important ingredient to change the game for all kids. They urgently need you!
r
r We are currently recruiting volunteers to coach 2-6 hours per week for an 8-10 week season. Sports opportunities range depending on your interest and availability, and most of our sites are public transit accessible. No coaching experience is necessary! Join the Coaching Corps movement and coach a kid today!
