Workshop Leader (Flexible Schedule) – Must commit to at least once a week
The Need: Students have fewer opportunities to do art, music, technology, sports etc. in school due to budget cuts. We are thrilled to be able to provide students access to these classes to help them grow, and foster their creativity and talent. Volunteers who have a specific talent or area of expertise can share this with the students by leading a workshop. In the past, volunteers have led workshops including SAT preparation, creative writing, knitting, and art.
The Role: Workshop leaders will be entirely responsible for each week’s lesson plan and activity. They will lead the class in this exercise independently from start to finish. If possible, the class will work towards some sort of culminating project to show off what they have learned. This is a rewarding way to share your passion and expertise with youth!
The Pre-requisites: Must love working with students. Must be comfortable creating and implementing a curriculum and lesson plans for the term. Must be considered in expert in the topic of the workshop. Must be willing to commit to volunteering weekly for the term. This is in addition to the general pre-requisites listed above.
