Duration: Ongoing
First Day : Apr 13, 2016
CoachArt’s mission is to create a transformative arts and athletics community for families impacted by childhood chronic illness. You don’t have to be Pablo Picasso or Steph Curry to get involved. If you like to take pictures, paint, dance, play sports, or engage in other hobbies, we have a special opportunity for you to share your passion with a CoachArt student!
CoachArt Volunteer Opportunities:
In-Home Lessons: Lessons in a one-on-one setting, where a volunteer is matched with a student in a shared activity of choice ( i.e. painting, arts & crafts, basketball, photography, etc.). The time commitment is typically 1 hour a week for 8 weeks, and the lessons are held at the student’s home.
Duties: Design a collaborative 8-week curriculum on the activity/skill you are sharing with your student. You will be provided with resources and adaptive lesson plan templates.
CoachArt Clubs: Lessons in a group setting, where a group of volunteers are matched with a group of students in an activity centered on the arts or athletics. The time commitment is typically 1.5 hours a week for 8 weeks, and the lessons are held at a community site.
Duties: Lead or assist a group of 10-15 students in an arts or athletics club. Help provide adaptive assistance to students with physical limitations.
Hospital Events: Volunteers may also attend monthly events at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where they can work on arts and crafts in the waiting rooms with the children.
