S.T.E.P. U.P. (Spanish To English Program University Partnership)

February 1st, 2017

Location: 3521 Palm Avenue Lynwood CA 90262
Duration: Multiple Days
First Day : Feb 1, 2017
Last Day: Jun 14, 2017

We need your help, dear UCLA students!!! If you are a bilingual, Spanish and English in particular, you can become a part of a student’s life here at Helen Keller Elementary. Most of our students have zero comprehension or just cannot understand the English language very well. As a result, they fall behind from the rest of the class and they cannot really show what they are good at. Through your help, we can make a significant change in the student’s life, one student at a time. They will never forget how one kind spirit from UCLA have given them wings when they need one.

We need you to commit at least an hour, every day for one week (can carry over the next week, if you are able). It can either be a class setting or one-on-one. We can either provide you a syllabus or you can create your own, depending on the student’s needs.  At the end of the week, we’ll give you a Certificate of Appreciation and a good recommendation letter/reference for your future employers. If you extend for more than one week, we’ll give these to you at the end of your service to us.
The longer time you serve with us, the better!

We need as many UCLA students as we can who can give back to the community and help our future college students soar and achieve their dreams. Please look for Kathleya Galvan, Testing Assistant at Helen Keller Elementary, for more details and to get you started!!!

Thank you Everyone and hope to see you soon in our school!!!
