Duration: Multiple Days
First Day : Jun 12, 2014
Last Day: Jun 13, 2014
We are grad students in the Leaders in Sustainability program and we’re seeking volunteers to help with a pilot project in coordination with UCLA’s annual Clothes Out program. The Clothes Out program collects donated clothes and goods from outgoing residents on the hill every spring. This year an additional project at Hendrick Hall will aim to increase the diversion of recyclable materials and e-waste from the landfill, in addition to the collection of donated unopened foods and personal care products.
r
r
r Volunteers will be helping with the collection of donated/recycled items and educational outreach to residents moving out. Our goal is twofold; One is to inform residents which items in their dorm room can be recycled, donated or thrown away and second is two is to contribute to UCLA’s overall Sustainability goals for waste and recycling: Zero Waste to landfill by 2020.
r
r Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes as it may get hot (bring your UCLA volunteer shirt or any UCLA apparel). Snacks and water will be provided throughout the day! There will be 4 shifts total with two shifts/day. We need a minimum of 5-6 volunteers per shift.
