The Child Care Alliance (CCALA) is a partnership of ten Resource & Referral agencies that serve communities at the local level. The Alliance agencies work together to strengthen families and ensure high-quality child care and early learning across Los Angeles County. This event is a part of Quality Start Los Angeles, an initiative that CCALA manages along with 4 other key early care and education agencies in Los Angeles County.
This FREE, family event will provide attendees with workshops about planning for college, positive parenting, as well as tips for using technology appropriately with young children. Attendees will also have access to a resource fair with participating local colleges, universities, and other community partners, as well as the opportunity to enjoy fun, family activities throughout the event. This event will also include community organizations as part of a resource fair for attendees to learn more about the resources available in their community.
Volunteers for this event should feel comfortable engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse families and their children (ages birth – 5). All volunteers will be given a meal at the event. We will require assistance with the following tasks throughout the duration of the event:
o Set up-break down workshop spaces with materials
o Set up/break down tables and chairs
o Put up/take down event flyers, directional signage, banners, balloons
• Food Station
o Manage the food station for attendees
o Maintain cleanliness of food station
• Registration Table
o Ensure entering attendees sign in at the Registration Table
o Assist attendees in signing in
o Provide attendees with event agendas and hand stamps (for food)
o Welcome attendees and direct to registration, workshops, restrooms, food stations
o Be able to answer any questions an attendee may have regarding the event
• Workshop Assistance
o Assist the trainer and attendees with workshop needs
o Greet attendees as they enter the workshop
Volunteering time is from 8am-3pm. Although full-day shifts are preferable, 3-hour shifts are available.
