Our next summer One Bus, One Cause event will roll to the 3rd Annual School Readiness & Health Fair hosted by Senator Roderick D. Wright, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, and the National Family Life & Education Center on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Jesse Owens Park.
The fair offers a discussion of current legislation and issues, and families will receive valuable information about the community, education, and health. Over 1,000 people are expected to attend, and the target age group are children aged 5 to 14 in low to moderate income families. School supplies, health services, and backpacks will be given out to all families in attendance.
Volunteers will be needed to assist with running the different hands-on activities and zones for kids, including inflatable obstacle courses, game booths, arts and crafts areas, and school supply distribution. Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing for a day of running around and playing with children. Food, a UCLA Volunteer t-shirt, and bus transportation to/from UCLA and the park will be provided.
