For some soldiers, a letter is the only contact they have with home. The UCLA Volunteer Center has a goal of sending 3,000 hand-written letters and care packages to military service members and veterans each year, in partnership with Operation Gratitude, a non-profit group based in Van Nuys, CA. All five branches of the military are sent letters: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
r Operation Gratitude is celebrating their March to a Million that weekend, and they need some blue and gold assistance with the huge event. This is a giant milestone for the non-profit; Operation Gratitude is the first military support organization to accomplish such a feat!
r Food, transportation, and all needed supplies will be provided; all you need is an open heart and willing-to-get-dirty hands! Please note: This project will require a lot of physical activity to navigate the base, breakdown carnival games and activities, sweep/rake/clean, and more. No projects will be too heavy or strenuous, but volunteers are encouraged to only do what they feel they can physically handle.
