Duration: Single Day
Date: Oct 22, 2016
Saturday, October 22 – 9:00 am to 1:30 pm – Mark Twain Middle School
Mark Twain Middle School is dedicated to promoting the green initiative and sustainability through the creation and maintenance of its on-site garden. The schools’ faculty and students have become “master gardeners” in the community with the development of the garden curriculum project. On various weekends, Mark Twain Middle School enlists the help of faculty, students, and outside volunteers for its garden workday where they work with the garden plant beds, amphitheater, mulching, and more. The garden has been with the school for about 50 years and was originally created with the hope of using it as a diversion and education tool for students.
This project is a follow up project to work begun on UCLA Volunteer Day in September. Volunteers will complete painting projects at the school and interact with the school’s staff, parents, and students. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Volunteers will meet on the UCLA campus. More details will follow in a confirmation email a week before the event.
