The mission of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community. UCLA External Affairs has adopted the Food Bank since February 2012 to show the staff commitment to service in the Los Angeles community. Each month, a different department visits the downtown food bank to sort, inspect, and clean food for distribution, as well as assemble food packages that go to children, senior citizens, and women with infants across Los Angeles County.
On February 22, Carol Block, UCLA Associate of the Chancellor, UCLA Staff Assembly, and the UCLA Volunteer Center will lead staff and students to the Food Bank for a day of service. Mrs. Block has made it a priority to foster a sense of community at UCLA, bringing staff and students together to showcase talent and appreciation for our diverse community. Transportation, water, and snacks will be provided to all volunteers, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own breakfast and/or lunch if needed. An email to confirmed volunteers will indicate the on-campus pick-up location and all other details.
