“Make Reading Your Superpower”

May 22nd, 2018

Location: 5075 Long Beach Blvd. Long Beach CA 90805
Duration: Single Day
Date: May 22, 2018 • 4PM - 8PM

The Child Care Alliance (CCALA) is a partnership of ten Resource & Referral agencies that serve communities at the local level. The Alliance agencies work together
to strengthen families and ensure high-quality child care and early learning across Los Angeles County. This event is a part of Quality Start Los Angeles, an initiative that CCALA manages along with 4 other key early care and education agencies in Los Angeles County.

“Make Reading Your Super Power” Family Fun Day is a literacy focused, community event intended to engage families in opportunities to further develop their skills related to interacting with their young children through play. This event will encourage families and children to participate in interactive, developmentally appropriate, and fun activities that promote language development, fine motor skills, and scientific thinking. This event will also include community organizations as part of a resource fair for attendees to learn more about the resources available in their community.

Volunteers for this event should feel comfortable engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse families and their children (ages birth – 5) and should be willing to participate in messy arts and crafts activities throughout the event. We will require assistance with the following tasks throughout the duration of the event:

Assisting families at activity tables (decorating capes & masks, making super slime, drawing self-portraits, and assisting the photo booth).

General event assistance (registration, guidance, etc.)

Parking is located off of Del Amo Blvd. Dinner will be provided to all volunteers. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you there!
