The Reading Partners program focuses on children from low-income communities who are struggling with reading. Working with partner schools, the program offers children one-on-one tutoring with a caring volunteer who is dedicated to one child’s success.
r
r When you volunteer at Reading Partners, you’ll work one-on-one with a child who has fallen behind in reading.
r -Each tutoring session is 45 minutes.
r -Volunteers can tutor once a week or twice a week. (Children are tutored twice a week.)
r -Volunteers can tutor one child or several. (Some tutors tutor several children in back-to-back sessions.)
r -Tutoring takes place on the campuses of local schools that have a relationship with Reading Partners.
r
r Training is provided ahead of time (30 minute online and a 45 minute on-site). LiveScan and Tuberculosis tests are required. We can reimburse you if the receipt is turned in. Volunteers are placed at an elementary school, so please dress appropriately.
