Learning Center Volunteer

This is an opening for a volunteer to assist the Learning Center Coordinator in our adult educational program working with our mothers. This person will translate during classes, work directly with mothers and assist with other admin, organizational help, local outings as needed.
Must be able to work Monday – Friday a week in the LC hours 8:45-1pm. Applicant can stay until 3pm, but 1pm is the minimum.
Must be bilingual and able to translate class material, assist with teaching lessons daily in LC
Must be professional and have good boundaries but also compassion for the clients that we work with
Must have an interest in the work that we do and a desire to work with our mothers
Must be able to make at 4-6 month commitment to the position
Need to have a valid Driver’s license, and be able to drive in State of California

An ideal candidate would have-
Excellent organization skills to help with additional organizational projects
Computer savvy and able to teach MS Office Suite, internet search techniques and typing, also help assist LC Coordinator with some admin tasks
Interest or background in teaching, social welfare. Students or work-study students welcome
Experience in teaching ESL is not required but ideal
The ability to be a good leader and role model

Time Details

We want someone to commit to at least a semester, but would be open to some one who could volunteer through the end of the school year.
