October 20, 2019 marks the 22nd Annual LA Cancer Challenge 5K Walk/Run, the signature fundraising event of the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Held on the beautiful campus of UCLA, where much of the foundation’s research is conducted, the LACC brings the cancer community together to shine a light on this disease and honor loved ones.
At the heart of the LACC, which has raised over $8.3 million to date, it is our goal to unite generations, young and old, through physical fitness to create public awareness and raise much-needed funds for pancreatic cancer research. The Hirshberg Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer and improving early detection methods.
We are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks throughout our event.
Some of the tasks include:
• assisting with registration
• handing out gift bags
• assisting participants
• helping with kids crafts
• cheering on runners
• directing foot traffic
• selling raffle tickets, and more.
By volunteering your time, you are making a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer. All funds raised at the LA Cancer Challenge fund our patient programs and seed grants awarded to scientists.
Depending on the task that you are assigned, you will be positioned on the course or the expo with different tasks. We have various opportunities available if you’re looking to volunteer as a group or individually.
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing. We also encourage family-friendly costumes and love outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers. We will have volunteer shirts available for those who come early.
We ask that you only sign-up to volunteer if you can stay throughout the duration of the event.
By volunteering your time, you are making a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer. So, invite your friends and family to come out, dress up for Halloween, and make this magical event the best one yet! One more thing, parking is free for volunteers!
