LA Animal Services takes in thousands of lost and abandoned animals every year. We reunite them with their family or help find them find a new home. While they are here, they are looked after by animal care professionals and receive medical care if needed. It’s a big job for the staff to provide ongoing care for all the animals that come through our doors. That’s where the volunteers come in.
The volunteers have the fun job of playing with the animals, giving them exercise, and providing love and affection.
Volunteers also perform a vital customer service role by introducing animals to prospective adopters and networking great pictures and videos of animal on social media.
LA Animal Services volunteers receive training from experienced animal handlers in how to work with the animals they choose – dogs, cats, rabbits or all three. The first step to becoming an LA Animal Services volunteer is to fill out an application at https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=71176500
Once trained, the hours are flexible - volunteers are welcome to come serve any time we're open, Tuesday through Saturday 8 to 5 and Sunday 11 to 5. We do ask that volunteers serve a minimum of 6 hours a month for at least 6 months.
