Located close to UCLA, this volunteer opportunity is perfect for students and UCLA affiliates to give back to the community at large. The University has established a strong connection with this local high school, named “Uni” High School, leading several volunteer projects at this site. This project offers the chance to garden, mulch, and better the campus where the environment is closely tied to the curriculum. Uni uses the “Food Forest” UCLA volunteers helped plant last Spring to stock their student-run farmer’s market. Students also tend to the plants and outdoor garden to learn about sustainability. To help maintain the standards of excellence that Uni offers its students, UCLA volunteers will assist the director of the School of Health and Environmental Sciences to make her curriculum the most beneficial to her students and the community.
