K.A.M.P. (Kids’ Art Museum Project) at the Hammer Museum

April 20th, 2012

On Sunday, May 20, 2012, the Hammer Museum will host its third annual K.A.M.P. (Kids’ Art Museum Project), an event imagined by artists for kids. Painters, sculptors, photographers, and other creative pros will lead inventive workshops and experiences for kids of all ages in the carefree atmosphere of the Hammer courtyard. All K.A.M.P. proceeds will support the Museum’s growing Hammer Kids public programming. K.A.M.P. will provide one-of-a-kind interactive experiences for budding artists and their families in one of L.A.’s most unique creative environments.

This year’s participating artists include: Lisa Anne Auerbach, Justin Beal, Meg Cranston, Mark Flores, Erik Frydenborg, Charles Gaines, Hollyflora, Shana Lutker, Malerie Marder, Jason Meadows, Matthew Monahan, Ruby Neri, Cathy Opie, Alessandro Pessoli, Lara Schnitger, Frances Stark, Koki Tanaka, Mateo Tannatt, Mungo Thomson, and Kerry Tribe. Story time will take place in one of the Museum galleries with children’s book readings by Eric Dane, Will Ferrell, Jodie Foster, and Annabeth Gish. The event takes place from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Volunteers are needed to serve as event staff with a variety of duties, including setup/cleanup, check-in, artist assistants, greeters and guides. We will need volunteers for both the day before and the day of the event.

Tentative Volunteer Schedule*
May 19th (Setup Day) – 2:00pm – 9:00pm
May 20th (Event Day) – 8:30am – 4:00pm

*The hours above are tentative. The hours above are tentative. You will not be required to volunteer the entire time on Setup Day, but it would be ideal if you are available between the hours listed. The Setup Day hours will be broken into shorter shifts. On Event Day, there will be a volunteer orientation, followed by 4 hours of art, laughter and outstandingly good times, and a brief cleanup. The schedule will be solidified closer to the event date.

Please submit your contact information (email and phone, please) and your availability for May 19 and/or May 20 to Akiyaa Nickelson, or call 310-443-7015 for any questions.
