Jovenes, Inc. helps homeless youth ages 18-25 leave homelessness behind. A home and family for those without, Jovenes provides an innovative program of stable housing options, compassionate care, life skills training, and employment support to young adults seeking a path to life change. Our mission is to help homeless and at-risk youth become productive and integrated members of our community. Jovenes goes deep with each youth we serve, focusing on housing stability, education and employment, access to healthcare and benefits, and recovery from childhood trauma. We empower those we serve so they can develop healthy relationships and make meaningful contributions to the community we share.
Activities, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
This volunteer will:
• Conduct outreach to help find housing for homeless youth
• Talk to landlords about Jovenes, Inc.’s mission
• Send information about housing to the Permanent Housing Department at Jovenes, Inc.
Required Skills: Strong communication skills.
Site and Supervision: This volunteer will be supervised by the Program Manager for Permanent Housing and Family Preservation located on 1208 Pleasant Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90033.
Volunteer Benefits: This position offers the volunteer a multitude of professional development opportunities, including experience with outreach, building their resume and expanding personal and professional networks. Upon completion of the volunteer service a certificate will be presented.
