Help tutor underserved students in STEM!

August 29th, 2016

Location: 931 Highland Avenue Los Angeles California 90038
Duration: Ongoing
First Day : Aug 29, 2016

9 Dots Community Learning Center is a non-profit organization housed in Hollywood, CA that provides after-school homework help and enrichment programming to underserved elementary and middle school students. We aim to bridge the gap in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education services between underserved students and those with more resources. Our program works to increase the academic success of these students, but also ignite their passion for STEM topics and lead them to possible careers in the STEM field. We work exclusively with Title 1 schools in the area and our program is completely free to our students and their families.

What we are looking for are enthusiastic, compassionate people who would like to volunteer their time to better these students’ lives. Our volunteers serve as tutors for these students during our daily after-school program, which consists of homework help, basic math and reading enrichment activities, and then a hands-on science or engineering project at the end of the day. We would love to have anyone who is at least in high school to apply to be a volunteer with us! Having previous experience tutoring, working with children, or in the STEM field is greatly appreciated, but not required. We also are in great need of bilingual tutors!

Our after-school program runs from 3-6 pm every weekday of the school year, and we are looking for regular volunteers who can commit to coming in to our center at that time, at least one day a week.

Our website is, and you can apply to be a volunteer on the page:
Also feel free to call or email if you have any questions.

Go Bruins! 🙂
