The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund works to elect LGBT leaders to public office for one simple reason. They change America’s politics. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender office holders are our clearest and most convincing champions for true equality. As leaders in government, they become the face and voice of a community. They challenge the lies of extremists and speak authentically about themselves, their families and their community. Since 1991, the Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBT candidates win election to local, state and federal offices.

r This year we are hosting our annual Champagne Brunch on October 26th, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. This is an event we hold every year in L.A.; we connect LGBT leaders, corporate allies, and celebrities from the region and across the country over a three course brunch accompanied with champagne. This year we will be spotlighting our work in the South and our other Horizon states where we hope to support more LGBT people seek and obtain office. We will be honoring Speaker of the Assembly Toni Atkins, as well as Prop 8 plaintiffs Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo. In addition, guests will be joined by newly elected Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia – the city’s youngest, first openly gay, and first Latino chief executive.
r
r The event is always dependent on volunteers, so we are reaching out to your network in hopes that you may be interested in helping. Volunteers are typically asked to help for about an hour before the event starts (11 am) with check in and are welcome to stay afterwards (the brunch runs until 2pm). If you would like to help or have any questions please contact Alex Wilkinson at alex.wilkinson@victoryfund.org or 202-567-3314.
