Location: 5448 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles CA 90027
Duration: Ongoing
First Day : Jan 14, 2016
The East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market (EHCFM) located on Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue, above the Metro Red Line station, was created by Thai Community Development Center to improve access to fresh affordable locally-grown fruits and vegetables and encourage healthy behavior among low-income and vulnerable populations in the underserved neighborhood of East Hollywood & Hollywood.
Our market’s objectives are to:
1. Promote healthy communities and launch an ongoing Healthy Diet Campaign.
2. Support financial incentives (direct purchasing agreements with restaurateurs), marketing programs, and community-supported agriculture (CSA) that ensures the financial sustainability of farmers.
3. Increase awareness of and access to local food programs and products that enable families to live healthier.
Volunteers will be expected to help with the setting up the market and assisting in distributing benefits for our EBT, WIC, & SSI recipients. Armenian, Spanish, Russian, or Thai speaker is a plus. Volunteers are also able to help us in planing/data gathering process. Please contact Billie (billie@thaicdc.org) to start volunteering.
Thank you for your consideration!
