The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
r Personal Shopper:
r Work one-on-one with clients in our Suiting Program to select professional clothing and accessories for their job search and new employment. Depending on the appointment and time frame, we also offer a makeup makeover. This volunteer opportunity is available Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Personal shoppers must shadow a current personal shopper at least twice prior to styling our clients on their own. If you have an eye for tailoring and appearance, are creative and personable with a flexible schedule on the weekdays, we’d love to have you on board!
r Public Speaking & Tabling Events:
r If you would like to share your enthusiasm and passion for Dress for Success and inspire others to support the organization, this role is perfect for you. Represent Dress for Success at events throughout Los Angeles by joining our Speaker’s Bureau. These volunteer opportunities occur during the weekday and weekends. Speaker’s Bureau volunteers must attend a two hour training. If you have an ability to tell a story with confidence and enjoy community outreach, please connect with people on behalf of Dress for Success Worldwide-West. Events range from suit drives hosted by a corporation or nonprofit to nonprofit partner fairs, in order to recruit prospective clients.
r Sorting Clothing Donations and Special Projects Days:
r Help sort clothing donations during Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m or once a month on Project Saturdays. We currently accept donations the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Stock shelves, clothes racks, or bins with donated items. Gather a group of your friends and/or co-workers to participate in sorting business suits and separates for a fun few hours. If you are organized and enjoy being productive, we’d be very pleased to have you contribute your skills!
r Career Coach:
r Assist our clients in job application and interview preparation in our Career Center, Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Duties may include helping clients brainstorm new employment opportunities, provide feedback on resumes or cover letters, conduct mock interviews and prepare for a successful job interview. We focus on educating our clients with job hunting and job retainment skills. Coaches volunteers must attend a two hour training. *Everyone can help, but we are always eager to find volunteers with strong computer skills and professional experience in Human Resources and/or career development! If you are motivating, have proficient communication skills and enjoy working one on one with people, we need you!
r Administrative/Office Assistance:
r Assist with administrative tasks in office by answering phones, helping complete donation receipts, handling data entry and keeping the office organized. Hours are flexible Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If you enjoy implementing administrative projects, are organized and have basic computer skills, you can commit as little as a few hours a day, week or month as an Administrative/Office Assistant.
r Skills-based Volunteer:
r We are always in need of volunteers who can assist with I.T., graphic design, fundraising, marketing and public relations. If you would like to volunteer remotely and have a flexible schedule, your skills are greatly appreciated!
