DWC FALL INTERNSHIPS
All internships are unpaid and require a minimum of 10-15 hours per week for at least 10 weeks. Academic credit is possible depending on requirements. Interns are required to attend Volunteer Orientation (September 17, 9am-11:30am), Volunteer Training (September 24, 9am-12pm), and Intern Orientation (Date TBD).
Community & Corporate Programs Intern
To assist with the management of a nonprofit organization.
The intern will work with the Director of Community and Corporate Partnerships in the volunteer department. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in leading groups, nonprofit management, and program development. This internship is a great way to develop communication skills while working for an innovative non-profit. Student must be comfortable with and interested in learning more about public speaking and motivating people.
Program Services Intern
To assist with the diverse programming and enrichment opportunities for Residents and Day Center Participants. Reports to Program Services Department.
Job duties may include: Assist with the design and facilitation of groups and workshops for women who are currently homeless or low-income; Help with the preparation for meetings, celebrations, and other program activities; Assist with creation of program and promotional materials.
Resident Program Intern
To assist Residence Staff with administrative and follow-up tasks pertaining to individual work with clients.
The intern will work closely with members of the Residence Management Team. This opportunity is ideal for students who are interested in client interaction, case management, and experience working with the formerly homeless population. Job duties may include: organizing and updating client case files; following up with client questions and concerns; administrative duties.
Social Enterprise Marketing Intern
To assist in different marketing and online aspects of the social enterprise, MADE by DWC.
The intern will work in the Workforce Development department. Job duties may include assisting with the overall marketing plan for MADE by DWC, maintaining online social networking sites, and updating social enterprise website. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in marketing, online advertising, graphic design, and social media.
Social Enterprise Intern
To assist with the social enterprise, MADE by DWC – café and gift boutique, of a nonprofit organization.
The intern will work in the Workforce Development department and assist in different aspects of the social enterprise program. Job duties may include assisting with marketing, packaging, and creation of products for the store; managing volunteers in the store; and assisting with creation of programs to support the store. This opportunity is ideal for students interested marketing, visual merchandising, retail and café management, and program development. Retail and café experience is preferred.
Development Department Intern
To assist in the management of donors and fundraising activities of a nonprofit organization.
The intern will work directly with the Development Coordinator and Events Coordinator to develop projects to raise funds and other resources for DWC. Activities include researching and responding to inquiries from prospective donors and event sponsors; preparing thank-you letters and conducting thank-you calls; creating public calendar updates and other promotional activities for fundraising events; assisting with mass mailings; and maintaining donor database records. Attention to detail and a business, communications, or English major is preferred. Skills in Excel and PowerPoint are required.
