Describe Images in textbooks to help students with visual impairments

November 22nd, 2011

You’re getting an education with the benefit of seeing all the charts, graphs and images in your field. Imagine a person with visual impairments, who’s just as smart as you, equally interested in your subject, but can’t see everything you can! With as little as 15 minutes per day, you can create image descriptions and create an equal education opportunity for your peers.Just a few minutes a day can make a huge difference in the lives of those who cannot see. Bookshare is seeking volunteers to describe images in textbooks for the benefit of students with visual impairments. This is an online volunteer opportunity. There is no maximum age limit but we require our volunteers to be at least 14 years of age. To begin volunteering send us an email at images@bookshare.org. There is no time commitment, volunteer at your own pace and at your convenience. Be a part of their success!!
