Each year, the Volunteer Center teams up with the Community Service Commission to provide a Day of Service, held after the annual UCLA Volunteer Day, to expose Bruins to new service opportunities in Los Angeles.
The Community Service Commission’s Day of Service is an opportunity for Bruins to serve the Los Angeles community after Volunteer Day. More than 500 students participate each year, and 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of CSC’s big event, which also falls on the national Make A Difference Day. In honor of this anniversary, Bruins will serve at ten different community partners around Los Angeles to become educated about social justice issues that focus on a range of issues from the environment to hunger and homelessness. Day of Service is intended to expose students to the different issues first-hand and inspire them to a lifetime dedication to community service.
