NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL MISSION
The WLA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council’s mission is to provide representation and advocacy for the diverse interests of all stakeholders within its boundaries–to offer a forum for discussion and review of issues and projects, to engage all stakeholders, to serve as an advisory body to government agencies, and to monitor the delivery of City services and to make recommendations to the L.A. City Council regarding budgetary issues, among other things.
This is the second year that the WLA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council is participating in Mayor Garcetti’s Clean Streets LA Challenge which this year encompasses community beautification. This is the second of two community clean-ups. Our hope is to engage as many people in this community to volunteer in beautification activities–such as community clean-ups, becoming block captains to update the City’s clean statistics, increasing awareness of the City’s MyLA311 service request program, plant street trees, form teams to adopt and maintain medians and to keep storm drains clean and clear, become involved in the University High School and Nora Sterry Elementary School campus community gardens, among other things.
