Mission Statement
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson (BGCC) offers our young people a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, dedicated adult mentors who respect and listen to them, and outcome-based programs that empower youth to become lifelong learners.
Volunteer Opportunities
FAFSA Completion Volunteers
• People knowledgeable/familiar in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Basic to advanced knowledge works well from completing the online form, reviewing proper documentation, and foundational understanding of how college awards is a plus. Preference to those completing or having completed a FAFSA within this year or last or willing to review materials to be more prepared beforehand.
o 8-9 volunteers
Child Care Volunteers
• Volunteers that can maintain children entertained with games, activities, and supervision. Checking children into the childcare area and ensuring parent or guardian picks them up. Staff will also be available to provide support and supervision.
o 2-3 volunteers
Runners
• People that can take flash drives and print in computers. Ideally people with foundational knowledge in utilizing USB drives, printers, computers and troubleshooting printing.
o 2-3 volunteers
Tax Completion volunteers
• Free tax completion volunteers that can provide assistance to families with taxes or tax advice for those that might not file or don’t know how to file.
o 2-3 volunteers
Financial Literacy volunteer
• Volunteers that can teach families about financial planning and helping them navigate them navigate and support their children through college. Helping teens learn about financing their money while in college and how to spend accordingly. Maybe someone from a bank or other financial institutions that would do this for free, including opening up bank accounts.
o 1 Volunteer
Phone Banking Volunteers
• Volunteers to assist with calling homes to remind and encourage participation at the even the day before. November 4th 2016 (evening time from 3:00p.m.-5:00p.m.) at Administrative office.
