For the last twelve years, Cash for College has organized and supported college access and financial aid opportunities for Los Angeles area high school students. Many of these opportunities would not have been possible without the generous support and help of our volunteers. Your work has had a meaningful impact on the lives of our city’s college-bound students.
r We would be honored if you would consider volunteering as a Forms Assistant, AB540 Expert, FAFSA Expert, or General Volunteer during the 12th Annual Cash for College Workshop season. Last year over 8,000 students in the Los Angeles region attended Cash for College workshops and, as a result, they received over $37-million in financial aid! Working together, we can serve many more students.
r This year, our Super Saturday Cash for College Workshop Day will be held on February 1, 2014. There are many ways in which you can participate:
r FAFSA Presenter/Expert
r FAFSA Expert Volunteers will give a presentation on the FAFSA, and answer questions from the audience to better prepare students and families for filling out the form.
r AB540 + CA Dream Act Presenter/Expert
r AB540 + CA Dream Act Expert Volunteers will give a presentation on the CA Dream Act and answer questions from the audience to better prepare students and families for filling out the form.
r Forms Assistant
r Forms Assistants help students and families filling out both FAFSA and CA Dream Act forms and answer general questions regarding the form if needed. Forms assistant volunteers will need to attend a FAFSA or CA Dream Act training prior to the event.
r General Volunteer
r General Volunteers perform miscellaneous duties at Cash for College Workshop Sites, such as, registration, administrative tasks, or other on-site needs. No training required.
r We encourage you to sign-up early for the high school workshop site of your choice. You can register your participation by completing a volunteer registration form at http://lacashforcollege.org/getinvolved/getinvolved.html.
r If you have any questions or concerns regarding volunteering, please contact Candace Nafissi at firstname.lastname@example.org or 213.580.7598. For questions regarding the general event, feel free to contact Kelly Reynolds at email@example.com, or 213.580.7549.
r Thank you for your cooperation and participation in making an investment in the future of our students’ education. We look forward to working with you.
50 Cash for College Financial Aid Workshops will be taking place simultaneously throughout the Los Angeles Region on Saturday, February 1, 2014. We are in need of volunteers to help us support these various location sites. When registering, volunteers will specify a region of interest and we will assign individuals to a site within that region based on the school or organization's need. Most workshops start around 8 or 9 a.m. and go until 1 or 2 p.m. The volunteer will be contacted once assigned to a site and put in contact with the organizer there.
