Care and Feeding of UCLA Campus Cats — UCLA is home to a small number of feral cats who are cared for by a group of volunteers drawn from staff and faculty – the “Campus Cat Network.” Network volunteers collaborate in a multifaceted program to maintain and care for these animals. Our main task is to replenish food and water at established feeding sites. This is currently a significant need.
We also have a trap/neuter/return program for new cats that are seen on campus, either as a result of abandonment or in new litters from cats we haven’t yet been able to trap. With kittens and adoptable adults, we put them in a foster situation until we can find permanent homes. Those that aren’t adoptable are returned to campus. Contact Dennis Lyday, dlyday@ucla.edu to join the team!
TIME COMMITMENT
The time commitment is flexible, and we work with your schedule. The time needed is generally between 15 and 30 minutes per week, not including getting to the site (on campus) and back. Depending on the number of volunteers for each site, participants will either check their site once a week or work with a partner to check on alternate weeks.
