You play a crucial role in the Red Cross mission. With your help, we can succeed in providing lifesaving blood to cancer and transplant patients, premature babies, accident victims and others who need blood.
The Role of Blood Donor Ambassador is to provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service and enhance the donor experience. Each blood donor deserves to be treated as an honored guest! Engage with donors to make the donation experience fulfilling and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations.
Volunteers will assist at various blood collection centers throughout Los Angeles County. Volunteers are responsible for checking in donors, getting them seated and ready for their appointment. They will assist with verifying their appointment times and making the feel welcome—you are the first person that they will interact with, so you have the potential to really make a great impression! Volunteers will also make sure that after their blood donation is complete donors are tended to and observed for a minimum of 15 minutes after the procedure to ensure that no adverse reactions occur and offer snacks and refreshments while they wait.
The minimum requirement to volunteer as a BDA is 6 hours per month which is equivalent to one shift. Shifts are available at various locations throughout Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
