Duration: Multiple Days

Last Day: Sep 27, 2017
Program Description: Volunteer for 2.5 hours a week (or more) with XPRIZE and help improve adult literacy in Los Angeles for many families.
Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: You can help adults looking to better their lives by volunteering for the roles below:
LEAD A TEAM- Manage and educate your team for the testing/event.
or
TEST- Administering the tests as a Test Officer (includes a 1.5 hour training).
No experience is necessary, only a love of learning is required! Each volunteer is matched to a team lead position and meet to administer baseline tests at an adult school or public library. Volunteers will receive test certifications, meals (depending upon shift) and support from a dedicated Regional Coordinator.
Time Commitment: 3+ hours each week for a minimum of 3 shifts – day and time to be determined by your schedule. Volunteers must commit to entire shifts.
Requirements: Must register on LAWorks.com and/or enrolled in RSVP. Completion of an application, two 45 minute online orientations (for testing officer role).
Parking & Transportation: Parking will be dependent upon your testing location; transportation needs to be provided by each volunteer.
Benefits: Our volunteers say that this experience is the highlight of their week. Having an opportunity to help a person learn to read and grow personally is very rewarding. You will be contributing to your community and meeting other volunteers.
* This project is managed and lead by our nonprofit partner. L.A. Works is a nonprofit, volunteer action center that creates and implements hands-on community service projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
