The CollegeTrek Afterschool Program at the Wooten Center in South Los Angeles is a college readiness program offering assistance with homework and studies; individualized tutoring; computer lab (PC and Apple); project-based reading, writing, math and science labs; college-prep electives such as robotics, engineering and business; performing and visual arts, including step dance, percussions and arts and crafts; and sports and recreation, including basketball, ping pong, video games and more.

r The free program serves about 30 students per day in grades 3-9. High school students assist as teen helpers but also need help with their studies. SAT-prep classes are held at high schools and other community sites.

r Volunteers can help with the above program activities and/or in the front office with reception, clerical, event planning, client and community surveys, donor database development, donor acknowledgements, proposal writing and more.
Time Details
Anytime Monday-Friday between 2-6pm. The greatest need is Mon-Thu, 3-5pm, for homework and tutoring. For basketball and recreation (video games, ping pong, etc.), the greatest need is Mon-Thu, 5-6pm, and Fri, 2-6pm.
