Location: Los Angeles CA
Duration: Single Day
Date: Mar 15, 2015
If you love the beach, the ocean, and all of its little creatures, come out for a beach cleanup! My name is Briana, and I am working with 5Gyres, an LA-based group that works tirelessly to eliminate plastic waste in our oceans through research, expeditions, education, campaigns, and beach cleanup events. 5Gyres is affiliated with organizations like the Surfrider Foundation and OneWorldOneOcean and is sponsored by Patagonia, Klean Kanteen, and Zeal Optics.
r
r The current cleanup day will be Sun, March 15th. Time TBA. We will be picking a segment of our chosen beach and collecting as much trash as possible, followed by data collection. There is no application process or age limit and friends and family are more than welcome! To sign up, volunteers should email myself at BRIANAMSHIPLEY@GMAIL.COM with the following:
r
r 1. Your name and names of those joining you.
r 2. Contact emails. Please also specify if you would like to be notified about future beach cleanups planned. I hate getting unwanted mail, so I promise, your email will ONLY be used by myself to communicate about the day of beach cleanup.
r 2. Your year and UCLA major (if you are a student)
r 3. If you are willing to carpool and # of seats you have available. If you are not sure about this, then state that you might be willing or not, and we will coordinate as the date gets closer.
r
r I will be sure to send out reminders and updates about time and specific location.
r
r Thanks for all of your help!
