Veterans’ Holiday Celebration is a chance to give back to those who have served our country through their military service. Volunteers are needed to set up the site on Saturday, Dec 1 starting at 8am until we are done. That includes setting out tables and chairs, setting tables, wrapping utensils, making centerpieces, hanging decorations, putting together care packages for Veterans, setting up the kitchen area, the food service lines, registering volunteers, providing a comfortable and friendly work atmosphere. On the day of the event, volunteers concentrate on making everything special. They will serve food, bus tables, socialize with the veterans and their families, give out care packages, man booths with information for Vets, direct traffic, join in the fun at the entertainment area, welcome the Veterans, register Veterans and volunteers who come to work at the event. Lots of little and big jobs pop up and volunteers need to be flexible. Everyone has hidden talents! Volunteers must register on our website www.vhcevent.org. There they will be able to select times that work for them and preferred tasks. Children are welcome with adult supervision. Get your club or team or class to come volunteer. Time committment can be as little as 3 hours or the whole 2 days. It’s hard to leave once you see all that is going on.
