Campus-Wide Family-Friendly Festival
October 14th, 2017 | 1-4pm
18th Street Arts Center
Join us to celebrate cross-cultural exchange, art, and community in our Pico Neighborhood!
18th Street Arts Center would like to invite our local and extended community as we open up our campus for a festival of interactive performances and artists workshops, celebrating our PST: LA/LA exhibition A Universal of History Infamy: Virtues of Disparity in collaboration with LACMA. We will also be launching the Spanish language version of our neighborhood cultural history project, Culture Mapping 90404 (check out the English version here). This family-friendly event will feature tours of the exhibition, art-making workshops, open studios, food trucks, live music and much more!
Time Details
We have a really fun event coming up on Saturday, 10/14 from 1-4pm, our signature community festival called Pico Block Party. We will have multiple artist workshops that we need volunteer help with, including t-shirt screenprinting, cyanotype flag-making, an experimental quesadilla lab, and painting/collage workshop, as well as some help with set-up and clean-up.
We will be expecting 500 community members to this family friendly event, and below is some more information. We have two volunteer shifts:
SHIFT 1: 11:30am - 3pm
SHIFT 2: 2:00pm - 5:30pm
Please let me know if you are available and would like to sign up, and what shift would work best for you.
Thank you so much!
