UCLA’s 7th Annual Volunteer Day is just around the corner! To help you make the most of the nation’s largest new student service event, we have detailed the schedule of the day’s events. Throughout all of the day’s activities, share your stories using #BruinsGiveBack and learn how students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents, and UCLA community members are making a difference by following the Volunteer Center on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Finally, enter the Volunteer Day photo contest for a chance to win a number of prizes. Thank you for your service, Bruins!
Breakfast and bus loading for new freshmen and transfer students will begin as early as 7:00 AM. By 9:30 AM, 110 buses will have departed from UCLA’s campus to take nearly 7,000 students to 48 community partner sites. After a morning of gardening, painting, and mentoring, students will return to campus by 2:00 PM.
On campus, the Volunteer Center will be partnering with UCLA Undergraduate Admissions Fall Open House to host a service event in the John Wooden Center. From 11:30 AM-1:30 PM, UCLA affiliates, community members, along with prospective students and families, will assemble hygiene kits for People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) and write letters to U.S. service members through Operation Gratitude.
This year, service will continue into the evening of Volunteer Day! From 6:30-9:00 PM at Sunset Village, UCLA students can mingle, eat, and learn about ways to get involved in service throughout the year at the first annual ServeFest! Student organizations from all over campus provide information about ongoing service opportunities and how to support the causes you are passionate about.
