UCLA Toy and Food Drives

December 3rd, 2013

The holiday season is a great time to give to individuals in need. This year, two campus-wide efforts will make the season a little brighter for families across Los Angeles. The UCLA Toy Drive and the UCLA Food Drive are underway – find your nearest drop boxes and participate!

Now in its 21st year, the UCLA Toy Drive is running through December 17th and will benefit children of UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital through the Chase Child Life Program. By donating toys, arts supplies, or games, you can help children at Mattel feel the joy and creativity that are not always present during hospitalization. All toys must be new and unwrapped. Drop off locations are located around campus, including in the Volunteer Center lobby on the 15th floor of the Wilshire Center. This year’s Toy Drive is sponsored by UCLA Campus Facilities, UCLA Staff Assembly, and the UCLA Medical Center Softball League.

From November 12 to December 13, the UCLA Food Drive will be collecting food items and monetary donations to support the UCLA Food Closet and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Organized by UCLA Events and Transportation, the Food Drive has collected over 42,000 pounds of food in recent years, helping to alleviate hunger for individuals in our campus community and throughout Los Angeles. Drop off locations can be found around campus.
