SHARING THE GIFT OF SIGHT - PRESCHOOL VISION SCREENINGS
Opportunity Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to impact your community positively? The UCLA Stein Eye Institute - Center for Community Outreach and Policy is recruiting volunteers for their Fall 2023 Preschool Vision Screening program. As a volunteer, you can perform vision screenings at local sites, helping identify preschoolers with refractive errors or eye muscle disorders. Early detection of these treatable conditions can prevent countless school-age problems. Screenings typically last approximately two-four hours on Wednesday or Thursday mornings.
No experience is required; informal training is available on-site or through partnerships with trained volunteers. We're looking for candidates who enjoy working with children aged 3 to 4 and can commit to a minimum of 30 hours per season. The season will run weekly from mid-September to January. Volunteers should plan to provide transportation, although carpooling may be available upon request from the UCLA Stein Eye Institute.
